Monroe High School rolled out a new set of chrome books for the students and faculty to use this fall. Each cart is equipped with 34 chrome books. Each carts will be shared among three to four teachers, and there will also be a couple carts in the upper learning commons that teachers can check out if needed.
“As the carts are being distributed to the different classrooms the technology department is going to set up times for the teachers, like 15 to 20 minutes of training on the carts and the chrome books and some rules teachers and students should follow to make sure they are used correctly,” Assistant Principal Jeffrey McVeigh said.
McVeigh said the chrome books have a lot to offer when it comes to helping students with projects and researching and there are a lot of different things you can do with them. They are a little different than a normal laptop or desktop because there are a lot of different powerful tools available.
“Google drive is a great resource that we’re going to start using a lot more of and become more familiar with,” McVeigh said.
If a teacher or student knows of an app that would be useful to him/her and his/her learning that is available but not currently loaded on those chrome books then he/she can get those added to the machines so they can be used in the classroom.
