The project kicked off on Thursday, Oct. 6 right after school at the entrance of the school and again on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. Several school groups such as the Interact Club, Student Council and Ignition Members, as well as some individual students, assisted in the work sessions, donating their time to a good cause.
English teacher Lisa Sellers approached principal Matthew Cortez about the neglected patio and condition of our school grounds and soon was coordinating with Aguilera.
“This project is one way for all of us to give back, but it’s also something for all of us to enjoy. MHS is a part of where we live, we should keep it beautiful. It’s like our home,” Sellers said.
The goal for the beautification project is to make MHS school grounds a more appealing place to be and to look beautiful to everyone. Also, they want to improve the areas for our fallen alumni from Afghanistan, which includes Sgt. Michael Ingram Jr. and Eric Hario.
