Summer bucket list for Michigan

Lauren Young, Junior Editor & Reporter

1. Visit Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. At these dunes, you will find miles of sand hills, towering up to 450 feet above Lake Michigan, which is located right by the dunes. This summer, they will be hosting astronomy programs from 9-11 p.m until October. Due to the location of these dunes, the park provides the perfect amount of natural darkness to make the ideal sky to gaze at while looking for stars.

2. Take a drive to Port Clinton, Ohio, to get an up close and personal experience with your favorite animals at the African Safari Wildlife Park. They offer both a walk-through zoo and a drive-through zoo. At this zoo, there are multiple activities you can enjoy, from camel rides to holding pythons.

3. Ann Arbor holds one of the largest street fairs in America. The streets will be full of multiple forms of art. There will be original works of art, performances on the streets, music, culinary treats, and many sales. This year, the fair will be held July 19-22.

4. The Grand Haven Musical Fountain is a great place to spend your evenings. On Dewey Hill, north shore of the Grand River, is where this event is located. Here, you will find a beautiful fountain that has streams synchronized with music.

5. Have a lake day on one of the many great lakes that are located in Michigan. Kayaking, collecting shells, swimming, and tanning, there is bound to be something for everyone to enjoy on the beach.
