From singing Christmas melodies to gospel songs, the choir always has something new to bring to the table.

This new upcoming trimester is bringing in a lot of new things for MHS choirs.  Right after the Thanksgiving vacation, choir kicked off the new trimester by having some of the groups perform at local venues.

The MHS group Expressions performed Christmas melodies at the Toledo Zoo on Thursday, Nov. 30 and the very next day the group Generations of Sound took an elementary school tour on Friday, Dec. 1 to try and recruit people to join choir.

Director Cate Windelborn has prepped her students for the new trimester by constantly practicing Christmas songs with them during class time.

“We will be working on a lot of holiday songs all throughout the month of December since we sing at a lot of Christmas events,” Windelborn said.

A few choir students at the high school performed in the Regional Honors Choir on Dec. 2.  The students had to apply and pay a fee to join the selected choir group in early September. The students then had to audition between Sept. 19-Oct. 4. Seniors Tristan Daniels and Will Clark, as well as Sophomore Faith Avirrt, were one of the lucky few to have been chosen. They performed at South Lyon High School.

Another event that has happened is on Dec. 3 when the entire MHS choir got together with the orchestra. The choir sang with the orchestra at their concert on the evening of Dec. 3 in the MHS auditorium.
