Golfer Tiger Woods was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence early Monday on May 29 near his home in Jupiter, Florida, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.

However, new reports have emerged of Woods, 41, stating that alcohol was not involved and that he had an “unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.” Woods is currently recovering from back surgery and said that he did not realize the mix of medications “had affected me so strongly.” [CNN]

Woods needed to be woken up by an officer as his Mercedes was found stopped in the middle of the road at 3 a.m.

Woods was given two breathalyzer tests and blew a .000 but he failed the roadside test.

“I understand the severity of what I did, and I take full responsibility for my actions,” the 79-time PGA tour winner said in another statement. “I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.”

“I fully cooperated with law enforcement, and I would like to personally thank the representatives of the Jupiter Police Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for their professionalism,” he added. [ESPN]

The court date for Woods’ DUI arrest is set for July 5.
