Monroe High School’s boys’ bowling team made its way to states at Sterling Lanes on March 4.

The team had a great season according to team members. This year’s captains were seniors Austin Bray and Jordan Bellair. The team had an overall score of 13-3.

The team started off its season quite rough with the loss against Chelsea.

“We weren’t really connecting as a team, and we weren’t picking up our spares,” junior Will Clark said.

“This team had fantastic talent and great bowlers,” Bray said.

Clark was very proud of himself to set some personal records at states.

“I was tied for third in the highest game with a 278, and I was one of the top 20 winners in the state,” Clark said.

Bellair and Clark had many supporters cheering them on while they represented MHS.

“I was very proud of my teammates making it to states,” sophomore Logan Scholl said.

The SEC Red Championship Title was given to the team at Monroe Sport Center after bowling two baker and individual games.

“People need to know Monroe’s team and who we are,” Bray said.

Clark said it made him feel like he was on top of the world.

“Personally, I was feeling great about making it to that day,” Clark said.

Clark placed number 18 in the state and Bellair placed number 10.

“I couldn’t have been more proud of these two for making it this far,” Bray said.

“This was an experience I can take into next year; knowing that I was able to do it told me that since next year is my last year, I can make it this far again,” Clark said.

The other bowler, Bellair, who also attended states does not attend MHS.
