Since the release of the eighth and final film nearly six years ago, the “Harry Potter” universe has continued to grow into one of the most popular series in history.

Fans, also known as “Potterheads,” have remained faithful to the series since the beginning, and are the reason for it’s success. With both a new “Cursed Child” book and play out last month, and a new movie, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” coming out in November, they have good reason to stay excited.

And this excitement over the new additions to their favorite series has them reminiscing over what makes the “Harry Potter” universe so special to them.

Junior Jake Skowronski first read the series when he was just ten years old and has read it a total of fifteen times since then. “The series means everything to me,” said Skowronski, “I make sure to read it at least once a year; it’s spectacular.”

Sophomore Keegan Cupp shares similar feelings over the series and said it taught him life lessons he puts to use everyday.  “To me, the series means growing up and accepting yourself for who you are, no matter what,” said Cupp, who started reading the series when he was eleven, like Harry is in the first book.

Senior Victoria Krajcz is just as in love with the series as the next fan, but said she feels “a little apprehensive with the new content being released,” as she fears it, “may not live up to the previous works.”

Freshman Molly Skowronski, however, said, “I’m beyond excited to see the new film, I read “Cursed Child and loved it, and I’m sure it will be just as good.” About the original series Skowronski said that “It is a comfort place I can always go back to and feel safe in, reading it is like coming home.”
