New Snow White movie disappoints audience

This year Hollywood had a hit and miss with “Snow White and the Huntsman” prequel/sequel. “The Huntsman: Winter War” came out into theaters this weekend and was a big flop compared to its first movie. “The Huntsman: Winter War” is both a prequel and sequel to the blockbuster hit “Snow White and the Huntsman.” Due to Kristen Stewart, who played Snow White in the first movie not signing on for a follow up movie, the story had to change.

The prequel/sequel had an amazing talented cast. Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, and Charlize Theron all returned for this film and newcomers Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt joined the cast. Hemsworth played the huntsman while Chastain played his wife Sara. Theron returned as the evil queen, Ravenna, and Blunt portrayed her sister, Freya (cinemablend).

The film did have some highlights with many epic fight scenes, strong female characters, the comedic-relief dwarfs, awesome costumes and scenery that really brought the story to life. The only problem with this film was the plot. The plot is the most important part to any good story and, even with the right cast, if the plot isn’t good then the movie will probably turned out bad.

The reason this film is a prequel/sequel is because you get to see some background information on Hemsworth’s character and how he became the huntsman and you get to see the relationship between him and his wife. You also get to see Ravenna and Freya’s relationship but just when you think the movie is going to get deep into these relationships, the prequel stops and the sequel part of the movie starts.

The plot was all too rushed and the ending was a big disappointment. The ending scene wrapped up in about 10 minutes and then it’s over. The movie doesn’t explore the feelings of any of the characters and goes straight to one final battle between the huntsman and the evil queen (imdb.com). The huntsman wins and everyone lives happily ever after except for anyone who has to see the movie.
