The Trojan Den boomed through its first full week of sales last week with new items and new ideas like helping to support pay-to-play for students who can’t afford to.

The Trojan Den sells almost anything you can think of. For students who don’t know, it’s located in F103 and open every day of the week except Thursdays from 2nd to the beginning of 5th hour. Lauren Rhodes’ classroom, which is a moderately cognitively impaired classroom, helps work the Trojan Den to help prepare them for jobs in the community.

Rhodes said the school store has been very successful so far this school year.

Prices range from 75 cent snacks to $5 t-shirts. According to Rhodes, there are all different prices; most snacks are 75 cents, drinks are $1- $1.50 and shirts range from $5 (t-shirts) to $35 (polo-shirts).

This year, they decided they want to try something new and donate some of their earnings toward the pay-to-play program so students who want to play a sport can.

“This year, we want to use some of the profits to help support pay-to-play in the athletic department help donate towards that program,” Rhodes said. They also use some of the money from field trips. All the money goes towards school-related things.

Tracy Setzler helps out in the store and Cody Florey is one of Rhodes’ students who also works in the Trojan Den. They sell coffee and all natural homemade smoothies.

“(They are) all natural smoothies so it’s very healthy for you,” Rhodes said. The coffee has really is sold with choices of different flavors each day.

“The coffee (sales) are booming,” Setzler said.

Students who have ideas for what to sell or make something they think would be cool to sell can go to the Trojan Den and make a request.
