Monroe High School, home of the Trojans, welcomes two new assistant principals this year.  Cathy McDonald and Delsie Sissoko have been appointed to fill the positions left behind by the previous assistant principals Kim Diven and Alex Schukow.

Cathy McDonald

McDonald, originally from Plymouth Canton Community Schools, was hoping to work at the high school level just to try something new. She applied here at Monroe High and got the job.

“There was a job posting, and so I saw, did some research on Monroe and thought it looked like a really good fit. I interviewed here and haven’t regretted it even for a moment; I love it,” said McDonald

McDonald loves to have a good time. She is a funny, outgoing and energetic person. She said she loves getting to know the students.

“Discipline is like my least favorite,” she said.

Delsie Sissoko

Sissoko is the other new assistant principle who is new to Monroe High School, but not new to the area. She taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade at Lincoln Elementary and Arborwood.

“The last two years, I was a School Improvement Coach at Arborwood Elementary,” said Sissoko.

Sissoko enjoys basketball, as she previously played college basketball at Finlandia University. Sissoko has two children – a boy named Brehima, who is age 9 and loves hockey and a daughter named Victoria, who is age 4 and enjoys gymnastics.

Sissoko is a little quiet and shy.

“I am a happy person, enjoy to smile, and I care a lot about our students,” said Sissoko.
