Students are furious because of the rule that was established last year when Valerie Orr was put into office. Students are no longer allowed to wear hats, nor hoddies while being inside the Monroe High building. Orr says that it’s just a safely violation. Why would we let students wear hats and hoddies just because they want to? If we needed to see a student’s face on the camera because of an incident we wouldn’t be able to see them. The rule is important and people will just need to get over it.
Some students get mad when they are told to “ put your hood down” or “ take your hat off please” but in all honesty, it’s not that big of a deal. Students make a fuss, but why? When you come to school this is supposed to be your safe place. Let’s say that someone got into a fight and they beat a kid to bloody hell. Wouldn’t you want to catch the guy to make sure he got the correct punishment? “Well, all you have to do is look at the cameras,” but what happens when he is wearing a hood and we can’t see their face? That’s when it becomes a problem.
Teachers and administrators don’t enforce rules because they hate you; they do it to protect you whether you want to believe it or not. So next time you are told to put it down or take it off just do it because it’s not a big deal and it’s only to protect you.
