“It just feels like a really big honor,” said senior Sydney Stewart, who was nominated for 2014 homecoming court.
Stewart is one busy teen who has just added homecoming court to her list of extracurricular activities. When she’s not busy on the volleyball court or on the soccer field, she is out in the community, either with student council, her church group, or out getting service hours.
And with all of this going on, Stewart still plans on making t-shirts, posters, and even lanyards with her face on it to help campaign for the upcoming election.
Stewart, like every other person in the school, said she is upset over the fact that there is no longer a Food Court Day.
“Not only was it delicious, but it also raised a lot of money for our senior class,” she said.
For girls on homecoming court, their dress is everything. When asked about her dress, Stewart described that it is “pink, poufy and studded with diamonds.” She also said that it is strapless and has a corset back.
Stewart said that, while she wants to win, she is just excited to be on court.
“It was just an honor to be on (homecoming court). I’m not on it just to win, I just want to have fun,” she said.
Win or lose, Stewart seems like a candidate that has it together. Not only is she involved in the school and the community, but she understands it’s not about winning or losing, but about having fun.
