Last Friday Sep. 13, the Monroe football program hosted the annual Trojan Pride night. All the first downers football players, which is for grades fourth through sixth and the middle school players, grades seventh through eighth, were there to support Monroe High School’s varsity football team..
The 7 p.m. varsity game was played very hard against Dexter and won. All of the football players wore their jerseys for the teams they play on and were called one team at a time to run on the field.
“It’s always very exciting to run on the field during half time for pride night,” said eighth grade football player Grant Petrangelo.
The event, which is held every year around the same time, had a huge turnout. Hundreds went out to the Monroe football field to show their pride for our Monroe varsity players.
“I love playing with my team we still have room for improvement but over all were pretty good,” said varsity player Joe Livermore.
Sophomore Patrisha Monday said the game was really enjoyable to watch.
“My favorite part was cheering on the football players in the student section. Also, all the little football players went out onto the field at halftime,” said she said.
