The Monroe Trojan football team had its fourth game here at home against Ann Arbor Skyline last Friday night at 7 p.m.
Fans wore red to the game, which was deemed Trojan Pride night. This night happens only once a year and was created to increase school spirit.
Monroe had an excellent start and the crowd roared as senior Nathan Daniels, scored the first touchdown of the night. By the end of the first quarter, Monroe had a steady 14-0 lead on the Skyline Eagles.
Tension grew strong as Skyline began to catch up on the mighty Trojans, but Monroe was unstoppable scoring a whopping 34 points by half-time. The score being 34-13, fans knew that the Trojans were going to get this fourth win.
During half-time the Monroe High Marching Band put on a routine to hit songs off of the legendary movie “Grease.” The crowd cheered as the band showed off its electric moves and played music to get the fans pumped up.
As the third quarter started, the boys were ready to show Skyline what Monroe was about. Monroe’s offensive line hustled to stop Skyline from getting a lead on the Trojans. As the fourth quarter crept around, Monroe had a score of 54-29, leaving Skyline in the dust.
Fans participating in the student section of the bleachers were invited down to the field to cheer on the Trojans up close and to show support to the hardworking Trojan football team. With only a few minutes left on the clock, the final touchdown was made my senior Kwan Brown, Jr., tith a final score of 61-29, leaving the Monroe Trojans with a record of 4-0.
