A spin-off of the hit 90s show “Full House” is set to be released on Netflix sometime in 2016 (abcnews.com).
John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse in the original show, confirmed that 13 episodes will be released during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Stamos will serve as an executive producer and will occasionally guest star (abcnews.com).
Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodi Sweetin, and Andrea Barber are cast members already on board for this spin off.
Netflix released statements saying they are contacting Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, and Lori Laughlin.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who got their start from playing Michelle on “Full House,” have not spoken out about whether or not they will be included in this show (freep.com).
Netflix also released the basic storyline of the plot. “With veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Cameron-Bure) pregnant and recently widowed, living in San Francisco, D.J.’s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin) and D.J.’s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), along with Kimmy’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys — the rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and her soon-to-arrive baby” (whnt.com).
Popular TV networks have been playing reruns of “Full House” for years.
“My kids really love the reruns of this show – it’s been introduced to a whole new generation,” Good Morning America anchor Lara Spencer said (abcnews.com).
Many MHS student grew up watching the original and are awaiting the release of the spin-off.
“I think it’s super-exciting that Full House is back. I grew up watching and can’t wait to watch this,” said junior Jenna Gallottia.
Many students feel like they have grown up alongside the characters watching the program in re-runs.
“I think it will be good because I always liked watching the old seasons. It will be cool to see the actors all grown up,” said freshman Brooke Shugarman.
