The 86th Academy Awards are held every year to award great movies, actors and actresses. The Oscars this year were held in Hollywood on Sunday, March 2.
It is a show that many people look forward to, especially all the celebrities that are on the red carpet. The women take months to pick out a dress and have it made by different designers. Jennifer Lawrence appeared on the red carpet in a Dior gown the same color named in Elle magazine as best dressed at the Oscars. Lupita Nyong’o wore a baby blue Prada dress and received lots of attention from the media.
The forecast was a bit scary also. According to ABCNews, they had made a glass shelter over the red carpet just in case it was going to rain.
Ellen DeGeneres was the host of this year’s Oscars. All the feedback that was received was good; everyone loved her as the host. Ellen definitely had some funny moments but the best one was when she got a group of celebrates to get in a “selfie” with her to break the record of favorites and retweets on Twitter. The “selfie” received so many favorites and retweets that twitter was shut down for 20 minutes.
Many awards were given out that night. “12 Years a Slave” was winner for best picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role was Mathew McConaughey for “Dallas Buyers Club,” and Best Actress in a Leading Role was Cate Blanchett for her role in “Blue Jasmine.”
Best Animated Feature was given out to the movie “Frozen,” which was a big hit in theaters. The movie “Gravity” was winner of seven awards. Overall, the night went on without a hitch, with everyone “Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy.”
